Please answer the following:
Peer Editing/Conferencing
1. Was this process helpful?
2. Did you like how you went from pairs to groups of 3 or 4?
3. Did you find that more heads are better than one? (By that I mean did you gain any valuable insight from completing this process? Was the feedback they gave you helpful?)
4. Would you like to have another peer-conferencing session?
5. How would you feel about "free writing", meaning that you would allow someone else to write within the body of your work, adding their sporadic thoughts and ideas? You are able to delete what they write if none of it of use to you, or you can adapt it and make use of various sections of the work?
6. On a scale of 1 - 10 (10 being most willing) how willing would you be to try this out?
- Thank you for your input I will consider your answers in my future planning processes.

1. Yes.
ReplyDelete2. N/A
3. Yes, it was helpful. It is good to hear other people's take on the ideas, and to hear their preferences about what I am planning.
4. I would love to have more peer-conferences. I am more interested in teacher conferences though.
5. I would not like to do that at all. This story is very personal to me, and I would feel it had been dirtied if other people wrote in it.

1. Absolutely, positively, the most perfect assignment I have ever done. I can't wait until the next one. Yes, it was actually very helpful all joking aside.
ReplyDelete2. I thought it was interesting, and very helpful.
3. Yes, two heads are always better than one. If somebody doesn't see a mistake, somebody else will.
4. Not really, but time will tell if everyone would want one. I'm sure we will eventually want another one once we are more confident in our work.
5. I love the idea of "free writing". It gives the author to take in new ideas for his story that may change the story entirely, but make it that much better.
6. 9.7 I like odd numbers.
1. Was this process helpful?
ReplyDeleteI think the process was very helpful, excpet Whitney... was a hard partener to have, because she hates me for some reason. but i believe her comments have helped my writing and how i will go over my work.
3. Did you find that more heads are better than one? (By that I mean did you gain any valuable insight from completing this process? Was the feedback they gave you helpful?)
I'm not completely sure, ive never been one that has really liked people reading my work before it is done, because at this stage the only person that really needs to know what im talking sbout is me.
4. Would you like to have another peer-conferencing session?
Maybe after i am done writing my final chapter to make sure that i have made it understandable for everyone else
5. How would you feel about "free writing", meaning that you would allow someone else to write within the body of your work, adding their sporadic thoughts and ideas? You are able to delete what they write if none of it of use to you, or you can adapt it and make use of various sections of the work?
im not sure i would like thhat at all. i tend to get upset when people try and change my mind about things especially when its my writing, im very closed about my writing i dont usually like people reading it, let alone making it their own
6. On a scale of 1 - 10 (10 being most willing) how willing would you be to try this out?
5 - ill do it if that is what is being done.
1. Truthfully, not really. I don't really like peer editing this early in writing my story. When I get farther alone, I like having people give me their opinions on what I have written.
ReplyDelete3. no, it gets too confusing with more then one head.
4. nope, well maybe once we get farther alone in the writing process.
5.maybe, but it would have to be someone that would add something special to the story.

Peer Editing/Conferencing
ReplyDelete1. Was this process helpful?
I liked peer editing, though I become a bit self-conscious about my work because it can be embarrassing. But overall, the peer editing was helpful because I now know that I need to be more descriptive.
2. Exempt question.
3. Did you find that more heads are better than one?
The feedback was helpful but only to a certain extent.
4. Would you like to have another peer-conferencing session?
I would rather not. I would rather have a teacher edit and comment on my work, although I don't want to make more work for you, it's just what I prefer.
5. How would you feel about "free writing", meaning that you would allow someone else to write within the body of your work, adding their sporadic thoughts and ideas?
I don't like it at all, I think it may disrupt my original train of thought and alter the entire direction of my work.
6. On a scale of 1-10 how willing would you be to try this out?
1 ... sorry.
1. I found it helpful to share my work and get another's viewpoint regarding the subject/flow.
ReplyDelete2. -----
3. I gained insight that I already was pondering in my head, which was helpful for me to make up my mind.
4. When the time is closer to having our chapters completed, I will enjoy having another peer conference session.
5. I don't necessarily like the idea of someone else adding to my work, though I do think that the enlightenment/creativity of others can sometimes improve the body of the work, and give you more ideas within the already written context.
6. On a scale of 1-10, I would choose a 6.
Kyle Lowe says.....
ReplyDelete1. Yes, I found this form of editing quite handy.
2. It was good, but 1 of the group members had to look over 2 outlines while the rest of the group ony did one each....
3. Sure, it's good to gain the perspective of another person to look over your work.
4. Now that's a good question. No (evil laughs), but seriously, why not?
5. I would like that, UNLESS.... if somebody decided to regurgitate something that doesn't connect to what it is that I might be writing.
6. 6.5-7.5 I'm guessing, not too sure!

1- This process is effective, but as much fun as sticking my hand in a meatgrinder... But I'm a masochist, so wonderful!
ReplyDelete2- Working in groups of three was double the humiliation.
3- Two heads are better than one. Insight was limited to the interest my novel provides, so I received a lot of it. The feedback was not helpful because Kyle still hasn't said anything and Mat's a jerk.
4- Peer conferences are effective.
5- That don't help me none.
6- Can I go into negatives?
1. Was helpful, quick things I could do to imporve the outline were brought to my attention.
ReplyDelete3. Yes, a different view was needed. I liked what eric had to say.
4. I would not mind having another session
5. I think the free-writing would be a waste of time. I would not like anyone writing what they think would work, most people in this class do not think the same.
6. 3-10 I would try it out but once and with someone I respect.
1. I'm an indipendant writer, and normally have my own flow of thoughts just puked onto paper for an outline- so I assume for someone reading over mine it might not be that helpful. But I understand how it *is helpful.
ReplyDelete2. Pardon?
3. Of course it was, Hunter is a very helpful man...
4. Maybe- further in the future... much further.
5. I love writing on their papers, and correcting- so I have to take whatever I give right...
